For the past week now I've been reading the Huffington Blog and surprised by how little comments are made there versus the vigorous debate and discussion found here on Kos.

Just take a look at contributors like Laurie David, wife of Larry David (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm) - out here in Los Angeles. It's smart,  politically engaged, wealthy women like this that help direct the donations that keep the Democratic party afloat.

Most of us here won't have a chance to attend a $500 a head dinner to raise money for Kerry or Evan Bayh in '08, but we can start commenting on the Huffington blog and let the power brokers of the Democratic party know what we want, and put pressure on the Dem Pols to fight back harder. They may not listen to us, but they will listen to those who control the purse strings.

You guys gotta reframe the Owen debate- focus on her devotion to big corporate money, and how she kept an SEVERLY INJURED boy in limbo after he was injured in a car accident involving a defective seat belt.

Forget about her Anti-Abortion stance, you only get the base on that...

90% of the public believe corruption and allowing a family to linger in pain is wrong. You guys can win this play, just be as FIERCE as the Republicans would be if they were in your spot.

Play like champs and win!

THEY Claim Electoral Fraud! Rich...

by JKU

I saw this great documentary on the Sundance Channel - UNPRECWDENTED - about how brazenly the 2000 Election was stolen in Florida by using DBT to purge the voter rolls of Black Americans. Then consider reports on the 2004 election, like the one by Christopher Hitchens Vanity Fair, about Diebold machines, less machines in Dem precincts,  etc...the fact is our Democracy is in peril  because elections are unreliable - and no politician on the Dem side seems to be taking it seriously...but the Republicans seem to be...not in Florida or Washington!

I just saw the new Star Wars III at a press screening here in Los Angeles, and was thoroughly impressed. It's not only a tale of morality, but also a metaphor for the Right-wing control of American politics. For those of us who grew up in the 80s, the movie always had a special place in our heart - it's the greatest modern myth in a culture with no cohesive central identity. The scene of Luke looking at the twin suns of Tatooine not knowing where his life was headed is something all young people can relate to. The battle of choosing between the light side and the dark side of the force, the good and evil within himself- it all means so much more after seeing this final part of the entire series.

The Truth About Priscilla Owen

by JKU

I just saw Bill Frist's Justice Sunday speech...

They don't want Priscilla Owen because she's anti-abortion - it's because she is 100% Pro-Business and Insurance...they can't sell her as a shill for big money lobbyists, so they sell her as "pro-life" - whatever that means...

Camp Feeding Tube: Day 7

by JKU

This a letter from a friend of a friend whose a camera man at the Schiavo media battlezone.

"I sent the "day 5" photojournalist notebook to most of you earlier this week.
Now, below, see for yourself what a difference a couple of days make in the
perspective of someone who's on the scene of the Schiavo story in Florida."

Names have been changed to protect the innocent. :-)
