The hits keep coming for the GOP...

Seriously, Markos?

by PSax

This will be a short diary.  I just have to say, I'm really surprised Markos went 'there' with the perceived snub of Bill Halter by Michelle Obama in Arkansas over the weekend.  Don't get me wrong, I have enormous respect for Markos, and I think most, if not all of us, want Bill Halter to win the primary over Blanche Lincoln.  But when I saw Markos go conspiratorial, making the assertion that Michelle purposely left Halter off her litany of people to thank, I thought to myself, "This is a joke right?  He's making fun of right-wing pundits who look for slights and political missteps where there aren't any, right?."  And then I realized he wasn't when, disappointedly, I did not to find a quote or clip of Rush or Hannity in a Daily Show-style 'gotcha' moment.   Markos was serious about his claim.

Gun Bills in VA

by PSax

Ah, the second amendment.  The bane of progressive and safety-cautious politicos everywhere.  It has for some time now become the third rail for otherwise reasonable, pro-gun control politicians who, due to very effective framing and marketing, wouldn't dare be perceived as such.  Today, on my morning drive to drop my wife off at the train station, I heard some rather disturbing news coming out of the VA House of Delegates, that the Dem-controlled state senate has an opportunity to shoot down, but probably won't.  More after the jump...

The Dow's Over 10,000!!!

by PSax

I guess that means the Republicans don't have anything to complain about, right?  I mean, we were forced to watch Faux Noise track the stock market as Obama gave his speech on financial policy, claiming that it was going down as a direct result of what he was proposing.  So obviously the stock market hitting the magical 10,000 mark means the Obama Administration is getting the economy on track, right?  Right??

This morning, the most recent poll for the Virginia Governor's race had Bob McDonnell leading Creigh Deeds by a commanding 53-44 advantage.  I'm trying not to concern troll, but despite all the claims that Deeds 'closes well', I don't see this thing ending well...

Well, it's done.  13-10, the Schumer amendment failed.  As did the Rockefeller amendment.  Public option will not be in the Senate Finance Committee bill.

The Revolution Will NOT Be Televised...

by PSax

Those of us involved in the world wide interwebs are always trying to find the next big 'thing', the emerging trend that will both erase previous technologies/trends and make future generations think, "Wow...what did you do before you had [X]?"  Seeing what's happening with the recent Iranian "elections", and the inability for traditional news organizations to penetrate the government-imposed media silence, it makes me wonder what the future holds for these traditional channels and, by extension, internet news.

Poll

With the Iranian elections, and the world's reliance on Twitter for information on what's happening there, what is the future of news?

I feel like I did when I was a kid...

by PSax

I have been on this site for a long time, but have never submitted a diary before.  After today, I feel like I have to write something, even if noone reads it. Four people have died in four months due to right-wing extremism.  Enough is enough.  And the shooters themselves are not the only ones responsible.
