Bush administration already planning to fail when it comes to troop escalation

When it comes to George Bush's "troop escalation" plan, the administration is already planning for failure, and already going on the defensive saying "this is not the last chance" for the U.S. in Iraq.

Defense Sec. Robert Gates went before the Armed Services Committee today, and actually had the nerve to claim that troops in Iraq might start to come home before the end of the year, if of course, violence is tamed and there are "political reconciliations" in the country. Hmm, that may be difficult to do considering the Iraqi's are electing terrorists to their Parliament.

Top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, and 2008 Presidential hopeful John McCain said today that those who support a non binding resolution opposing President Bush's Iraq war strategy are "intellectually dishonest, and "demoralizing."

Aww, so now we're going to hurl insults at people who disagree with us, huh? Wow! That's definitely someone I want to be my President!

McCain said the BIPARTISAN resolution was a demoralizing vote of no confidence.

So much for progress. A massive truck bombing killed at least 121 and injured at least 226 in a mostly Shi-ite neighborhood of Baghdad today. It was the deadliest bombing in the capitol city since 2003. The same market was bombed in December killing 51.

Despite attempts by right-wing groups to blame global warming on "natural" evolving of the planet, or "cycles," and despite an attempt by the Bush administration to pay off scientists, an international group of scientist says global warming is man-made, and will continue.

The panel said earlier today that the pattern may continue for centuries DESPITE human efforts to stop pollution. They also blamed humans for stronger and more deadly heat waves, strong droughts, and devastating storms.

Soon after Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was sworn in as House speaker, she took questions from internet bloggers on a conference call that was closed to "mainstream media."

Last week, after President Bush's State of the Union speech, Pelosi's aides arranged for bloggers to question two Democratic leaders on yet another conference call closed to the "mainstream media."

I posted an entry Wednesday about an Anti 'surge' rally that was hosted in Richmond last night by MoveOn.org, to protest George Bush's dangerous plan to send about 22,000 additional American soldiers to Iraq, and it looks like the event went reasonably well. The local ABC affiliate reported over 100 activists turned out while passers by honked horns to show support...

I wrote a brief entry on the weather the other night, and now, I offer more proof that global warming is indeed REAL. In 2006, the federal government reports that temperatures in the United States were the warmest ever recorded:

Last year was the warmest on record in the continental United States, the federal government reported Tuesday, attributing the temperatures to the natural El Nino cycle as well as to long-term warming linked to human emissions of greenhouse gases.

Via Washington Blade I see that Virginia lawmakers will again consider a bill to require that students receive parental permission before joining extracurricular activities in public schools a measure that will target gay-straight alliances in high schools.

You may remember I wrote earlier this month about the ridiculous amount of sprawl rapidly eating up any open land remaining in Virginia. Well, much to my surprise, those in power might actually be taking notice. However, the proposals to cure the problem are a little ridiculous.
