My purpose of this particular entry is not to repeat that which others have far more eloquently and with greater detail elaborated on the political history of the NRA.  From their apolitical beginnings, to their transformation to a political organization in the 1968-1978 era, the NRA has changed from an organization primarily focused on hunting safety and being a responsible sportsman, into what they are now.

Rather, I thought I would share information on those early transformative years of the NRA, and my personal exposure to it.  More information below the orange squiggles.

I guess this is my second Diary entry regarding bumper stickers, I don't know why most bumper stickers and some in particular irk me so much.  I don't even like the "my child is an honor student at blah blah elementary" stickers.  Is it really your child?  Are you sure?  Or maybe you just bought the car and the sticker came with it?

So the latest bumper sticker that got under my skin is the following:

Now, I have listened to a lot of politicians in my life, and I have also met some pathological liars, and I do have to say that President Obama is one of the least-lying presidents I can ever recall.  Not to mention a scandal-free (not counting the faux-fox scandals) administration.  Can anyone recall even one lie that he has ever told?  Anyone?

{sound of crickets below the political orange smokescreen}

Django'd Nerves

by Uncommitted

Today, my son and I decided to run out and see a movie.  Since we are both Quentin Tarantino fans, and his latest effort, "Django Unchained" just hit the theaters, we chose this movie.  Perhaps a bit of a bad choice for Christmas day, considering the typical gratuitous violence in the film, but you expect that from a Tarantino movie.

I left the movie completely rattled, and had to talk with my son for almost a half hour in the parking lot before I was even fit to drive.  And it had nothing to do with the violence and bloodshed so typical of this genre.  More discussion below, once the orange gun smoke clears.

Protect Freedom - REMOVE OBAMA

by Uncommitted

I was driving home today from buying a new pair of running shoes, and was stuck for several lights behind an oversized overpriced SUV (you know the type) with several bumper stickers on the back, and I was forced to stare at a bumper sticker - -

    Protect Freedom

Since the lights were slow and the traffic thick, I had way too much time to analyze this sticker, my random thoughts below the squiggly.
