On tour in England in 2003, Natalie Maines, lead singer of the then-popular Country group The Dixie Chicks, made commentary regarding our walking brain stem of a President, saying they were ashamed he was from Texas.
The Reich Wing response was typical. Rocks were thrown through the nursery window of Mrs. Maines' child. The band received very detailed death threats stating the date, time, and method of their execution. Their CDs were pulled from shelves and burned. And music stations stopped playing their music.
All of this illustrates a typical response of the right wing to ideas and statements they personally disagree with. These people live in a world of hypocrisy, where celebrities are only allowed to express points of view when it is the same as their own.
Some people say that the defining moment of Sammy "The Goose" Alito's hearings came when Senator Lindsey Graham, ready, willing and able to mock the Democrats he was so eager to get in bed with to portray himself as a moderate, caused his wife to cry. I happen to agree. That one moment will likely be what causes Samuel Alito to be confirmed. And this could very well undermine the very Republic.
Every year it was on the air, the hosts of Crossfire and The Capital Gang would make their political naughty and nice list. Well I say that just because these shows were cancelled by an ignorant CEO doesn't mean we should let an old tradition die.
