Inane diary about network TV

by buddabelly

just a quick question for those debased as I who still watch  (shudder)  Network TV.......

I'm sitting here reading Kos with something called 2 broke girls on in the background...I watched for about 10 minutes and realized that there was no sense of any type of reality, plot or script at all any more...it was simply one liner smirk, one liner smirk, one liner smirk repeat ad nauseum.......

now I've never been a big TVaholic though it does run basically 24-7 for background noise...if I want quiet, I walk 50 meters out my door and I cant even see a house, not mine or my neighbors...

anyway, I'm watching something that just is very different from the sitcoms I remember, this is odd.....Is this the future of the Networks?  Everything is a joke the audience is in on?

I don't get it.....

Ghu I hope not, because this is not only not funny, it's kinda sad and pathetic...

I have a good friend who is an expert plater.  Basically he can plate anything on anything including gold straight to titanium without a nickle strike first, a process he developed himself along with many others, even can plate carbon fiber

Most of his work has been with aerospace/satellite parts,  and military parts including parts for Sandia National Labs who is the customer who needed gold straight to titanium without a prior strike since nickle has a tendency to flake with the temperature fluctuations involved in spaceflight. so used to very close tolerances and dealing with milspec,  etc....

He was laid off a couple years back and even though busting butt looking locally, there just isn't that much high tech plating here in town and it's not like bumper plating ....... to be very understated.....

Anyway, the help needed....I know there are job sites that specialize in highly skilled trades but I don't know what they are, hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction so I can help him get his resume out there in the big world, not just little ol Tuk-Shon no matter how much I love this town.

He's more than willing to relocate if needed and will start out low to prove his skills just in case someone here needs a very high quality plater with knowledge of aerospace and military work ...

Anyway, if anyone either knows of a good site to use, or a job opening somewhere, let those suggestions rip...

Thanks in advance for being the helpful lovely Kossaks I know you are...

Watching the evening news and there's a story on about 3 Tech guys who basically have solved the first problem with Obamacare...The damn website....

How? With another Website...meet the Health Sherpa

A extremely basic and very fast way to see what your choices are in the new system and it even figures your subsidies too.

Here in good ol Tucson Az, I have 119 different plans to choose from and as an UN-insureable male under 50 it ranges from free at the catastrophic level to a few hundred bucks for platinum level insurance, insurance I could not have bought at any price before Obamacare happened.

Heck you can even get the contact info if you are not eligible for any subsidy and never see Healthcare.gov again.....

I didn't see anything else on this yet so if someone wants to do a good writeup, I'll pull this, until then, this info should get out there somehow.....

Renzi was charged with 32 Felony counts pertaining to insider land deals and illegally using personal business funds for his political purposes without proper transparency, and stealing client money to further his political career...

Renzi, a Republican, represented Arizona's sprawling 1st Congressional District from early 2003 until early 2009. He chose not to run for re-election in 2008 while facing a federal indictment. The 32 felony counts included conspiracy, extortion and money laundering.

http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/...

Not a lot up yet that I see but I will keep looking and update as more info becomes available, like which Felonies Senor Renzi is convicted of and which the smarmy slimy weasel wiggled out of  ( with all apologies to any Smarmy Slimy Weasels offended by the comparison.....)

It's just really nice to see one of them actually get some comeuppance and maybe, just maybe realize that they are just like the rest of us, no better, no worse.....

PPDF link to Renzi Indictment for those who are interested in the gory details, Basically he was your typical scumbag using inside information and money entrusted to him and his company for his own sweet sweet purposes.....(sorry it's hosted on fox news but it's a copy of the indictment, actually I'm surprised Faux would host a document damning to a republican and not a Democrat)

From WaPo

.

The panel found Renzi guilty on 17 of the 32 counts against him, including wire fraud, conspiracy and extortion. He was acquitted on the remaining counts which included similar charges but on different dates.

snip

The indictment charged that Renzi, while in office in 2005, held hostage possible parcel swaps involving public land proposed as the site for an Arizona copper mine unless it included purchasing private land owned by a former Renzi business associate, James Sandlin.

snip

Charges in the other part of the case accused Renzi of embezzling more than $400,000 in premiums from his family insurance business to fund his 2002 campaign for Congress.

A good concise synopsis of the case against Renzi.

From Minneapolis Star Tribune
According to the indictment, an investment group agreed to pay $4.6 million for the associate's land, and he then paid Renzi $733,000 for his help.

Sandlin had owed Renzi money from past business dealings involving land in Kingman, authorities said. It wasn't immediately known what verdicts were rendered against Sandlin.

What the hell is up with this?   From USA Today

TUCSON - On his 55th birthday, former Congressman Rick Renzi was found guilty of some charges and acquitted of others after a nearly month-long political corruption trial in U.S. District Court in Tucson.

The jury returned without advance notice, and its verdict was read before media arrived, but a court clerk and a prosecutor confirmed that Renzi had been convicted of some counts. Details were not immediately available, but he was believed to have been convicted on 17 of 32 felony counts.

Judge David Bury released Renzi pending sentencing. Renzi declined comment as he left the court.

ummm, wow...Thank you Jan Brewer?

by buddabelly

There has been much wailing and gnashing about Obamacare in my much loved adopted State of Arizona.  Especially over the Federal expansion of Medicaide, Arizonas version of which is known as AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System) what was a model program in the whole country for how it was run and how many  it covered.

We were and are one of the few states who covered childless adults/adults with no minor children since we passed Prop 204 ten years back or so.

Follow over the jump for the surprise.

Mac users, I need your help

by buddabelly

short diary as there's not much to it...My last windows box died on me and I was given an old iMac G4 1 gig withan 80 gig hard drive and almost a gig of ram....

Now I'd literally never touched a Mac before so this has been an interesting and frustrating few weeks....but I have a real problem that hopefully some kind kog can help me with...

I'm running the last possible update to version 10.3 or Panther which is 10.3.9

The problem is Panther just does not work well at all with the modern web, it just took almost 10 minutes to open a page on Slate...There is a fairly easy and legal solution.

I need to borrow a copy of the version 10.4 or Tiger install disc.

As I understand from my reading, once you own the disc, Apple doesn't care how many machines you update with it unlike microsoft so there shouldn't be any legal issues and I've exhausted my local resources that are Mac peeps so I thought I'd do a little begging here...

The disc is available for purchase but I flat can't afford it...Long story why but anyway, if anyone out there is like me and has every disc they ever bought, could I please borrow the Tiger disc?

I'll ship it back as soon as done and even pay for shipping to me....

My last box was a gift from another wonderful kog and it worked for quite a while but now I'm just stuck...

Plus this is a neat looking machine, it's the lampshade looking iMac with the flat screen on the chrome swingarm...very avante garde in its day and still a neat looking box with enough speed for me if I can only get the OS upgraded....

From my research Tiger is the newest OS this machine will handle and should be updateable to where it actually functions well with the modern script filled web...

So if there's anyone out there in Kosland who could help with this, I'd be eternally grateful....

It's just so tiresome to wait a couple minutes for every page here to load, you would save my critters virgin ears from the regular cussing that has been going on...heh...

Or if a Mac guru knows of another answer I'm all ears but the only solution I can find is a Tiger install disc....

But this really takes the cake.

It's one thing to not vaccinate your own child. As wrong as I and the great majority of the medical establishment might think that is.

But to send infectious diseases through the mail via Facebook as this news report shows is a flight beyond crazy.  These people need to be locked up in my opinion.

Not only do they risk their own children but everyone in between that might come in contact with the infectious material.

Lets jump the squiggle and look at a couple quotes

RKBA: Reloading?

by buddabelly

Reloading, it's not just cramming another magazine into the firearm though that's one definition....reloading in this sense is the actual manufacturing of a cartridge that's better and cheaper than you can buy in the store.

Right to Keep and Bear Arms is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme or somewhere in between, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections.  We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion.  If you're just here to disrupt or troll, expect to get a Do Not Respond (DNR) comment and then be ignored. Insults, lies, and willful ignorance will be dealt with by normal community moderation. Disagreement by itself is not considered trolling.

As always, if you're interested in joining RKBA, message KVoimakas.

Water from the sky?

by buddabelly

beautiful glorious water, and just falling from the sky free and clear and lifegiving.....

We haven't seen rain in a long damn time here in Baja Arizona and yet here it is right on schedule, the beginning of the Monsoon.

Even the cactus are parched and wrinkled and the only green is the bark of the Palo Verde, yet within days the desert will erupt in green and life, quail will be born, termites will swarm and the lifecycle will begin anew....

All because of something many take for granted.....

Not us here though.......

Water from the sky...what a miracle.........
