Help Support Tarryl Clark!

by drache

Okay so first my apologies this was supposed to be out yesterday but finding an hour to actually write and publish at a time when I think the most people could possibly see this is proving problematic.

That said, continuing my efforts to help candidates in need, ladies and gentlemen, may I present Tarryl Clark

So I missed yesterday and what I've learned from that is that I need to find time to get ahead for days like yesterday (when I was gone for about 15 hours).

That said I am still going to push candidates, particularly dark horses. So follow me over the bump and let's talk some more about Grier Raggio and a proposal to maybe help organize action diaries.

I don't freaken care about Glenn Beck

by drache

I really don't. The man's antics I find amusing and sometimes I sincerely wonder if the man needs a psychologist but other then that I don't care. I also don't care about his rally.

I don't care whether people thought it was 'inspiring' or an 'exercise in hate'. The fact is that man has his admirers and in general I personally don't agree with their policies or where they think this nation should go.

So can we please cease and desist giving the man attention? If the common wisdom here is right that's exactly what the man wants. So why in the freaken hell are we giving him what he wants?

And why in the hell are we wasting time on him? After all there is an election coming and there are so many races that need help, be it volunteers, donations or just talking to your neighbors.

I need to get some things off my chest

by drache

What follows is mostly a rant on several topics do not assume the individual points are connected by anything more then my feeling that they need to be addressed.

If I want to connected them I will say so. So without further ado let's get this started.

Reflections on Patience

by drache

So I am breaking a long silience I've held on writing new diaries and I am doing it largely because there is finally something I think that needs to be said.

And what pray tell is that? That the value of patience and the ability to hold to the long term has been mostly lost on this site.

My Aunt Died Today

by drache

My aunt died today, well technically I guess she died 2 days ago when she stopped breathing (I still have not gotten a clear idea on how long and frankly get the idea that no one really knows) and suffered terminal brain damage. It was just confirmed today after the doctors brought her body temp up after basically freezing her in a last ditch attempt to save her and run brain tests today.

She was 46 and leaves behind a husband, a 20 year old, 16 year old and 7 year old not to mention scores of nephews and nieces and 8 siblings including my dad.

Sorry if this has been already diaried, if it has let me know and I'll delete.

It seems we finally have polling that might settle one of the more persistent debates around here. Course I expect the almost inevitable  counter diary.

A Fool's Errand

by drache

Let me just say that this diary will probably be controversial and if that's not your cup of tea you might want to save yourself the trouble and click away.

I promise not to take it personally (after all I don't even know often how many people read my diaries in the first place) and more over I wouldn't blame you. Just myself personally but it seems lately that this place too much angst and controversy and too little of the things I came here for.

So if you are sticking around, follow the jump and see what I have to say

First my apologies for the delay, I have been working 10 hour shifts and then pretty much been going straight to bed.

The math version is also coming it's just been a lot of work (especially as the census was that people wanted to the equations displayed right).

The math diary will be out Friday or sooner.

Now then let us jump into the world of Newtonian Physics, also known as Classical Physics.

I just do not understand

by drache

I don't often post political diaries, mostly because I often struggle to form my work into the words I want, to find the exact combination of words that describe what is a very nuanced and finely defined view. I do rather enjoy reading about politics because despite all the derision it rather is like chess.

I am (against what is probably my better judgment) going to post a political diary. Because I just do not understand and in truth I am tired of the fighting and while I do not expect us as a community to just magically get along. It would be nice if we could at least recognize that we in general not that different.

Weekly Physics: Ballistic Motion

by drache

so first, sorry this is again a little late. Mostly it's just too many things to do and not enough time to write.

I will have the math heavy version of equations of motion up tomorrow. It's just taken quite some time to write as I can't simply post equations I have to write them then turn them into pictures then host them.

This week, we will discuss what happens once you move out of linear motion.

Let's do a little experiment, let's say we have  2 friends (we'll call them Bob and Tom) and they are throwing snowballs each other. Now Bob and Tom have been going at it for quite some time and neither have managed to hit each other. Bob is down to his last snowball and desperately wants to land one on his friend. So how can we guarantee a hit for Bob?

should I work on finding a way to use the proper symbols and notation?

Weekly Physics: Equations of Motion

by drache

So first off I would have had this out like I intended on Friday, however my mom had a somewhat small complication from her surgery that day and had to be kept overnight. Consequently I didn't have time.

Now then, given the (some what surprising results) from the poll I have decided thus: I actually am going to break this into a 2 diary a week series. This is probably going to be a little time consuming on my end but enough people wanted more math that I think I owe them that. At the same time I do not want to chase people away.
