My husband and I had the distinct pleasure of being two of the 75,000 at the Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, last night to see O. He was everything we all know he is but that is not my story for today. Clearly with so many people in attendance, the walk back to cars and parking garages was long and difficult for some, especially, the ones in wheelchairs, families with strollers, and the elderly. As we were walking down Grand Ave. we saw a group of three elderly black women ahead. As they tried to cross the street crowded with cars and people, one of the women fell flat on her face. We all went running to make sure she was okay. We helped her up and asked the obvious question-----Are you okay? Her response was, "yes, yes, I am okay, nothing gona' hurt me today!" . Me being sappy, as usual, I grabbed my husband's hand and started to tear up a little and smiled to myself. In that moment, I thought to myself "she has waited so long for this" and I realized just how personal this election has become for all of us, for many different and varied reasons. However, the common thread that keeps us together is "We have ALL waited so long for this."
