My local health board meeting as reported in my local paper. Parenthesis and bolding are mine. (Apologies concerning any formatting issues. It’s my first, er, 2nd time posting a story!) Oh, and this is in Benton/Franklin counties here in eastern Washington state.
We pick up the story...
At the December board meeting Didier (Franklin county commissioner and health board member) said he needed to see proof from scientific studies to convince him that mask mandates work, and the board requested a presentation in response at the January meeting.
She (DR. Amy Person of Benton-Franklin Health District) referenced more than a dozen studies that found benefits of wearing masks in schools or in public. Among the findings was that wearing masks reduced the risk of infection by 70% to 77%.
No public health measures are 100% effective, she said, comparing masks to seat belts that don’t prevent all deaths in car crashes.
Among medical groups that have backed wearing masks in schools are the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians, she said.

But Didier said he found her presentation unconvincing.
“You are grasping at straws,” he said.
… and here is the link to the paper www.tri-cityherald.com/…
So after having the head of the local health district present MORE than a dozen studies plus recommendations from the appropriate doctor organizations he says “You are grasping at straws”.
In my religion blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is considered the top level sin of which you cannot repent. Not that you couldn’t but you won’t. Think of a person standing in a field under a cloudless sky under a blazing sun. And they believe there is no such thing as the sun. That person is so far down the not accepting reality there is no way out. Usually this is done by a person who tries to be big to cover their low self esteem but at least that thinking can be redeemed.
It is my sincere hope for him that he has low self esteem and is just a pretend sad bully. The alternative is much worse.
