I haven't talked much about the shootings of the past few days because frankly it's just too fucking depressing, but what the hell, I just had the most devastating thought. What happens when the #BLM movement stops pushing the racial element of these incidents and starts pushing the "violation of my 4th Amendment rights" element, or even the "violation of my 1st Amendment rights" element? NRA nut jobs like to tell us that the 2nd Amendment is vital to our country because it protects our freedoms should our government ever become tyrannical. We all know this - we see it, hear it, and read it after every mass shooting.
Now, in no way am I justifying the piece of shit in Dallas, but did he not behave in exactly the manner condoned/encouraged by NRA, pro-2nd Amendment rhetoric and by extension those who support the NRA type organizations? Is all the current handwringing, pearl-clutching, and outrage just because this murderer was black? He just did something you all claim to be willing and able to do during your fevered gun fetish fantasies - is the color of the perpetrator's skin all it takes to make you realize how fucking insane you sound? The Bundy Ranch incident last year was but one bit of evidence that this is the case, but it was quickly and conveniently ignored and forgotten because the police stood down and no one was killed. This asshole was former military - remember the epic freakout from conservatives over that 2009 DHS report warning about just this type of shit? Remember how the DHS had to retract the report and apologize? I sure as hell do. This asshole also received training as a civilian through a privately-owned company that teaches "tactical training". It's one of many companies which have sprung up in recent years - especially since The Scary Black Guy was elected and the "omigod they're coming to take away our guns" clowns slithered anew from under their rocks. In many cases - and this disturbs me greatly - these classes are taught by former LEOs and military veterans. Their credentials are vocally and enthusiastically touted, and trainees pay good money for that expertise. It's a VERY profitable endeavor. But nobody ever stops to ask - who the fuck do you think they'll be using that "tactical training" against? Micah X Johnson just answered that question, didn't he?
People better wake the fuck up. I say this as a guy who LOVES to go shooting and has owned firearms since a very young age. I want to continue owning and shooting my guns - it's fun as hell. I just had a great day at the range yesterday with a friend whom I love dearly, but who will probably be apoplectic when he read this, but damn, it has to be said by someone.
