EVERY national news organization pulled out of Louisiana for Gustav's aftermath, probably because of the RNC. Our local CBS afiliate just appealed to all viewers to contact anyone they know out of state to tell the truth about how hard hit we were. Aid is not flowing in from out of state, because it got no coverage. New Orleans did not flood, but everything else got flattened. I know people out of state to tell the truth to, but nobody with so much influence as the good people of the Daily Kos.
I really don't know what to do about this. I assumed there was great coverage of Gustav. I thought everyone would want it to go better than Katrina. I was wrong, apparently. The Red Cross is not receiving a fraction of the charitable donations it received during Katrina's aftermath: little news coverage. Charitable organizations of all types are hurting for supplies down here.
Let me tell you, Gustav was a hundred times worse in my region than Katrina was. It's just a huge mess, and people need help. If anybody knows who to contact about this, please help. Thank you very much for your time. I can't tell you how much people here would appreciate your assistance.
