So we can't broadcast liberalism the way we'd like to.  Let's do our part and "broadcast" it when we can!

I called into the local chickenhawk show because the topic of an eye for an eye came up.  I hate the "if the Old Testament fits, wear it," attitude by many conservatives.  I thought about pointing that out, but figured I'd have about 5 seconds to express my point.

After listening to the long litanies of kiss ass wingnuts sucking up to the host, I finally got stewed enough to dial up the number.  The show is in a city of maybe 300k so it's not the hugest listernship...but anywhere is a start, right?!

The caller before me was trying to trick the host into a little logic box but was getting more angry when the host wouldn't bite....something about having the goodwill of the world after 9/11.

Remain calm...I reminded myself.  Stay on point, and it's a good one...

And then, pow!  I was on. (more below fold)

"Savage" provocateurs....

by quartzite

So I was driving across Nevada, flipping through the radio and along came the Mike Savage show, crystal clear.  265 miles away from California.  It was very interesting of course, from a sociological perspective but also very disconcerting.

Maybe you're thinking, "well of course, quartz, what are ya, a maroon?"

"At times, yes..."

Adam Smith made me do it. Part I

by quartzite

This will be a series of canards to kill. I'm asking for your help - - ammo to use in my never ending war to shut wingers up and down.

I've done this many times in the past with facts.  For example, any wingle-nut that cries "liberal media, liberal media" gets a counter of "prove your assertion, Bush had gay concubine media handler...."

The response is usually resounding silence....more below the fold!

I am SOOOO about freedom, R U?

by quartzite

Freedom, freedom, freedom, bandied about by many but practiced by a few.  I am writing this because I think it's roundly hypocritical when someone defends a friend or loved one by saying something like, "they are the greatest person in the world, but they are pro-life."  BZZZZT!  Sorry, they aren't the greatest and they are in their core, anti-AMERICAN!~

Here's your chance to tell the dK world how much YOU are about freedom.  I'll go foist!

Note-I live in central rural Nevada and have dealt with more than my share of chickenhawks, right wing whackos and nutters since I was a little kid.

To give you the backstory, check here unless you've been keeping your finger on the pulse.

There was a thread on dK recently about Gibbons
but I wanted to expand on a point which was of great poignance to me, especially after lorraine's great diary, "This is my body"

Outsource this:
Lots of jibber jabber about outsourcing in this election cycle, here's my worthless couple of rupees.  Having traveled to India this summer to help out some schools and vacation, I talked to many people and found that outsourcing means economic opportunity for people across "the ponds."  Let's take a closer look at this, goods and bads....

Outsourcing is:

Some of my friends are "apolitical" meaning they don't care about politics.  After seeing Kos' poll, I'm curious about your thoughts with more details.

Do women care about politics as much as men?
