2015 North Seattle Elections

by seabos84

This is a pretty exciting year to be working on those local campaigns. Seattle has 4/7 School Board positions open. Seattle will be having elections for City Council, by district, for the 'first' time. I live in North Seattle on 130th by Meridian, a few blocks above Haller Lake.

I will at least do sign waving Rah-Rah for local candidates I LIKE / CARE ABOUT. I'm willing to try to organize sign waving Rah-Rah for candidates I like / care about, and I'm willing to help people who want to organize other things (phone banking, doorbelling... whatever floats your boat) for candidates I like / care about.

Question, on Monday, 2 Sept., 2013: Is there anything MORE interesting in labor than the working stiffs of the fast food industry trying to get more than garbage can scraps for their hard work?

The rules in this diary are not applicable to that 1% focused on keeping us serfs as serfs, catch farts, cannon fodder and doormats.

There are 6 billion ++ people in the world who need clothing, food, clean water, sewage, transportation, housing, education for their young, care for their elderly, healthcare, retraining when their jobs go obsolete, vacation ... everyone should be able to see the Great Wall of China and the Grand Canyon in their lives.  There is more work to do for all of us than time to do it in.

There are not enough resources for everyone to have their own 400 foot yachts, 10 servants and 20 room mansions (um... do the math).  However, we should be smart enough to get everyone working so that everyone can get what they need, and even some of what they want.

Earth is a factory, let’s make it work it efficiently so we all have free time and we all have opportunity. We need a hard working, honest public sector, and we need a non exploitive, vibrant private sector.

I don't have a new nirvana-ism to save us.  I know that the goody two shoes isms fail cuz they rely on people being what they are NOT - selfless.  A lot of times when people are selfless, it is actually serves their their self interest - community libraries, parks, roads, education, health care ...?  Too much selfishness typically costs more than some selflessness - and since too many non right wing droolers define action as watching "I have a Dream" and sobbing into our Kleenexes, we don't know how to cost out our selflessness or selfishness, never mind balance them out. Until someone figures out the cost of nirvana-ism, we need to make stuff work for us in the here and now.

We need fair work rules that apply to everyone everywhere - otherwise we end up with what we have now - work rules which benefit the pigs at the top.

I'm going to put the diary below the fold.  I want it to fit on 1 page of paper for those of us who are paying for our own leaflets.

I will be distributing it to fellow citizens when the sell out 0-crat$ darling Michelle Rhee comes to Seattle on Tues., 19 Feb.

I will be distributing it at local Democratic party legislative district meetings in the next few months: the 36th (Hey Tim!), the 43rd (Hey Ed!), the 46th and the 32nd.

In 2012 there were a lot of voters on the Democratic side whose voting calculus had a major Lessor Of Two Evil (LOTE) component.  For those of you tiring of that LOTE argument influences choices you make on your ballot - I'm talking to YOU.

Tim Burgess wants the citizens of Seattle to elect him Mayor of Seattle in 2013. He made this announcement at the end of November 2012. In November 2012 those same Seattle citizens voted against the Charter School Initiative 1240, in many precincts by over 60%.  Who is Mr. Burgess going to representing on education issues? Will it be Seattle's citizens?

Seattle Initiative 1240 Voting By Precinct

The charter initiative 1240 obtained enough signatures for the ballot because millionaires and billionaires spent millions getting the signatures.  Those rich people then paid for a multi-million dollar campaign which outspent the opposition appx. 17 to 1 so they could win 507 to 493. Initiative 1240 is the full employment act for education deformers in Washington.

I've been a Seattle high school math teacher for 7 years. The education deformers have done some good to systemically help kids who are being failed by the community and the system. That good is negated by the incessant, relentless deformer work blaming those of us in the buildings for problems which start far from our doors.

Some of Mr. Burgess' most prominent supporters are 1240 supporters because they are active education deformers, as is Mr. Burgess.  I find him to be another LOTE Democrat. For how many more years and decades are we going to keep electing LOTE Democrats to run our community programs into the pockets of well connected cronies?

The citizens of the City of Seattle voted against the 2012 Charter School Initiative 1240, in many precincts by over 60%.  Mr. Burgess wants the citizens to elect him - who is Mr. Burgess going to representing on education issues? Deformers and their cronies, or, citizens?

The Rich Pig A$$ Ki$$er$ I'm talking about are the well compensated leaders of Ed Deform A$tro Turf$, many which receive their daily caviar from the likes of the Gate$ Foundation and the Waltons. They lead a lot of organizations, they're well paid for it, they're focused on blaming the on-site working stiffs in education, and they NEVER hold accountable the leaders running education.  With Democratic Leaders like this, who needs the Republicans?

Here is a partial list of organizations just in the great state of Wishy Warshy, Pacified Northwest: League of Education Voters (LEV), Partnership For Learning (PFL), Stand On Children (SFC), Center for Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), Teach For Awhile (TFA), National Council for Teacher Quality (NCTQ), A+ Washington (A+), Alliance For Education (AFE) ...

The organizations work relentlessly on the Great Teacher Bashing Tour, because ... they can't work on holding management accountable and get paid, can they?

All kids will be saved when we have charters and evaluations that work as well as ... the evaluations of Wall Street bandits?

Blame Teachers, Again

WA. Charter Crap, Version #2012

The teacher bashing onslaught soared to new heights in September 2010 with the release of "Waiting For Stuporman". One September day, I got home from work & I was channel surfing & I saw my Ex-Boss, (7 clicks removed) Bill Gates, sitting on Oprah's couch with Michelle Rhee, while the 3 of them ooh-ed and ahh-ed over this little piece of propaganda.

Having a full time ++ job, I decided that I was going to leaflet against their propaganda as I could.

Below is a leaflet I distribute at ed deform events, and at sundry other local Seattle community events.

I enjoy leafleting.

I enjoy telling people a teacher and I'm leafletting because I'm prejudiced:

I'm prejudiced against well paid managers, AND
I'm prejudiced against well paid CON$ultant$,
because as members of the 1% and as agents of the 1%,
their greatest skills are blaming us working stiffs for problems we didn't create -

I've been teaching high school math for over 6 years,
I actually worked at Microsoft in Redmond as a low level support serf for 5 years,
I was a chef for 15 years, and spent 5 of those years cooking in fine dining in Boston (the Boston Four Seasons Hotel from '85 to '87).

I KNOW what high priced CON$sultant$ look like,
I KNOW how little they help my kids learn math,
I KNOW how little they help kids at our school,
I KNOW how little they help any kids in our district,

I'm prejudiced against well paid managers, AND
I'm prejudiced against well paid CON$ultant$,

To The Dems.

For the unwashed among you, Cee Lo Green has had a hit "Fuck You", which is about a girl dumping him for his lack of funds. Taylor Swift has had a hit "Mean", where she tells off some mean meanie for being a meanie - it is very high school song.

I've listened to pop music for decades - it tells us what is going on out there among the mob of us nobodies, kind of like how the highly priced painting of a campbell's soup can tells us how outta touch our 'elites' are.

These 2 songs have been popular for months - and some of the excuse making for 0bama's LATEST $ell out$ just hit me the other day - blaming fascist pigs for being pigs while your 'champions' sell you out is ... great for the well paid 'champions'!
