If anybody just watched Rachel Maddow it is clear that the GOP strategy for Senate confirmation hearings for Trump’s cabinet is to overwhelm the media by doing them all at once. Throw in the first press conference for President-Elect Trump and the media will be completely baffled and overwhelmed by the GOP strategy and the average citizen will hear nothing about these revolting cabinet picks.
Dailykos needs to get organized and work with the principles of the Indivisible document to overcome this. Each Senate confirmation hearing needs to have a specific Dailykos writer assigned to it. They need to provide updates on the latest outrages and items that make these people unfit to be in the cabinet. The hearings will all be going on at once so they all need to be pinned at the top of the dailykos site (maybe by utilizing the Recommended Diaries section and maintaining them there as needed). Most importantly, all the Senators involved in each hearing needs to be prominently displayed.
The Trump press conference should be ignored. Who cares what he says? He’ll say the opposite next time he speaks. The whole point of the press conference is to be the shiny light while the swamp flows in behind the limelight. Ignore the shiny light. Focus on the flow of the swamp.
We, as readers need to be disciplined. We can’t be outraged by everything. We need to follow the confirmation hearing for our Senators. We need to contact our Senators about the outrages coming from the confirmation hearings. We also need to spread the word in our communities, utilizing our social media and networks, within our states and thus the Senators who need to hear from us, about the outrages coming from the confirmation hearings. The media will be utterly useless (like it usually is) so it will all be up to grassroots, local activism. Stay with the principles of the Indivisible document.
1. Follow the confirmation hearings relevant to your Senators (you’ll have plenty of time to read up on the other hearings later)
2. Spread the word on your social media about how unfit the nominee in the hearing you are following is, and what is your Senator doing about it?
3. Contact your Senator and let them know what you think.
If Dailykos doesn’t do it, who will?
