One of the top stories this morning on my mobile AP was a critique about Palin's "signature accomplishment," and while it's not exactly damning, it can't help that her top accomplishment next to "the bridge to nowhere" is being discounted. I searched and didn't see this previously diaried.
Possibly the most compelling or politically useful/damaging element in the article is: "there's no guarantee the pipeline will ever be built; at a minimum, any project is years away..." Additionally, the fact the pipeline will be contracted to a Canadian company doesn't do much for employing America's Joe sixpack.
An interesting mention in the story happens to include America's favorite energy czar:
In January 2007, Palin spoke the first of at least two times to Vice President Dick Cheney, the Bush administration's point person on energy issues, according to calendars obtained by the AP through a public records request. Cheney's staff pressed the Palin administration to draw in the energy companies, said current and former state officials involved in those discussions.
