OK, humor me for a moment. For the last couple of months I’ve tormented friends and relatives by asking them two versions of one question: “Which Republican would you choose?” Now I’d like to broaden my tormenting to the rest of the world. We just had the boss’s regularly-scheduled Democratic straw poll. Let’s see how we feel about the other side. I’m posting two polls. This one asks who you’d like to see win the Republican primary (for whatever strategic reason you like). The next one will ask, if you had the ultimate power to choose the next president, but it had to be from the four remaining Republican candidates (sorry Ben), who would it be?
Not to bias anyone, but here’s my reasoning on why I’d like Trump to win the primary.
Cruz: Probably the easiest to beat in the general election, but I’m terrified should it go the other way. I often root for the most crazy opponent, but not this time.
Kasich: Perhaps the most electable. Best to avoid. Besides, who wants to root for a loser (!).
Rubio: More electable than Trump and almost as terrifying as Cruz.
Trump: Beatable (I hope I’m not wrong about that!) and less crazy than the others, just in case.
