Hi there...I know this is off topic, but I've seen similar discussions here before.
Basically, I need to buy a new computer at home. I've been a lifelong PC user with mixed satisfaction. A good friend is trying to convince me to go Mac this time. My only extensive experience with Macs was at an old job and it was constantly doing all the things that Mac users say their machines don't do: freezing, crashing, etc.
Still, my friend says that Macs are much better now than in the 90s and that the main advantage is that unlike most PCs, a Mac user can expect to keep his/her machine for 5 years where on average a PC user replaces their machines every 2 years.
I'm currently looking at a Dell and the eMac G4. The eMac is about $70 more, but I'm willing to pay that if I can be convinced thats the way to go. The specs on both machines are pretty identical, though the eMac has more memory. I'll be using the computer for pretty basic things: web browsing, email, word processing. I may get a digital camera in the near future, but I doubt I'll be using it in any professional capacity.
So lay it on me: pros, cons, experiences...
