Here's a thought my husband had. There's been much discussion in DFA groups of what will become of the organization if Dean becomes DNC chair. Dean has said he wants DFA to continue, but it remains to be seen how many members will continue to show up if he is no longer leading the organization.
DFA has chapters in every state, and many states have several local groups as well. It has been growing rapidly and is full of activists who want change. But it will need a major figure as a leader if it is to continue on this path.
I nominate Kos. He is recognized as the activist left's best-read blogger; he would generate enough excitement in the DFA organization to keep the members involved; and his philosophy of politics is very similar to Dean's. It would also be good for Kos, who is currently quite influential among activists, but whose organization is completely e-driven. He would inherit half a million ground troops automatically.
So that was my husband's, I think, very bright idea. What do you think?
