So, idiot, morally bankrupt and all around degenrate failure Donald Trump admitted to asking for foreign help with the 2020 election, even if he is too stupid and narcissistic to realize that.
And of course it's quite clear, that at the very least, Lil Donny and his lackeys in the House and Senate (Not looking at you Moscow Mitch, but only because you are so ugly and I like turtles), covered up - or at least tried to - Russian interference in the 2016 election.
But this isn't new.
It's a matter of record that every Republican elected President since Eisenhower has solicited and used foreign help to 'win' elections.
Let's start with Nixon. While Nixon is deservedly known for his criminality, bigotry and lies, what is less well known is that he deliberately prolonged the Vietnam War to steal the 1968 election. It is an undisputed fact that Nixon asked the South Vietnamese government to stall peace talks until after the election. Now maybe you don't care about the NVA soldiers, the Vietcong or even innocent Vietnamese women and children who died to "elect" Nixon. But what about the young American's who died serving their country in a war prolonged to get a criminal into the White House, are you ok with that?
(In case you haven't noticed I'm not ok with any of it)
Let's get to the next Republican elected... Ronald Reagan. I don't hate the man as much as most Kossacks, he helped free my continent. But, again, it's a matter of established fact that Not-a-Saint-Ronny illegally and despicably asked the Iranians - yeah, Ayatollah Khomenei, that guy - to continue holding Americans, and not just any Americans, Americans who stepped up to serve their country - hostage so he, Reagan, could win an election.
Lets just sit and think about that for a minute. Reagan wanted an evil regime to continue torturing Americans so he might win election. The arrogance and hubris takes one's breath away. To torture "bad guys" is bad enough... to encourage zealots to torture your fellow citizens for the "crime" of serving their country. Well, it's beyond obscene.
Next up is George Herbert the Walker Bush. Probably the best of the bunch, because you, know, the rest are awfullly awful.
Now his case is harder. He probably - probably - didn't use foreign help to steal the 1988 election. Unlike Reagan and Nixon.
What he did clearly do is try to cover up - i.e. obstruct justice - the Iran Contra scandal. A soon to be ex-attorney named Bill Barr was involved in that. Perhaps you habe heard of him? The cover-up was meant to help re-elect Bush, but failure doesn't imply innocence. It's why attempted murder, attempted rape and attempted burglary are all crimes.
But let's get back to the cover-up. Bush, implicated in Reagan's scheme to circumvent bi-partisan legislation against fomenting violence in Nicaragua, a reasonable goal, since the last thing Central America needed was more violence, Reagan and likely the Walker Bush traded in arms and hostages (it worked it '80 ammirite?) with Iran, using Israel as a conduit. Now this was, shall we say inconveniet for Bush. So he pardoned everyone. Where's the foreigners, you say? Well, everywhere. The Ayahtollah knew. A bunch of shady charachters in Lebanon knew. Then and now Scumbag sicktator of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega knew. Bush was a lot more subtle and much smarter than Reagan or Nixon, so the foreign help was more passive than active. But it was, nonetheless.
Which brings me to Junior. You may think the 2000 election wasn't influenced by foreigners at all. You may be right, for all I know. But Junior wasn't elected in 2000. He was installed ny Republicans on the Supreme Court. In 2004 he was elected. And again, with foreign help. Junior's lies are by now well known to non-Foxxers. He even sent his unsuspecting Secretary of State with a briefcase packed with lies to the UN. The War in Iraq - based on lie upon lie upon lie and then more lies all the way down got Junior elected at last. Only, that left lil' Bush beholden to a bunch of liars and cheats like Ahmed Chalabi and various other taudry figures.
Junior's first election couldn't succeed without the silence of discredited, deeply dubious figures who knew the truth.
And now we have Trump, the acme and epitome of what Republicanism has become. Lies, treason, cover-ups and a dependence on foreign help, because winning is the only thing.
