Remember, back in 2007, when Politico broke the super controversial news that then-Democratic Presidential candidate John Edwards had received a late night $400 haircut? And remember when the news media fixated on its implications for his authenticity so obsessively that NBC News anchor Brian Williams had the balls to ask him about it during one of the early debates. And remember when the corporate media used the issue to preemptively sink a populist message that they found uncomfortable, one that would be absolutely killer during current economic times?
That was a real dick move, but hey, at least the media IS fair and balanced, right? I mean, at least they’re reporting like crazy on a Extreme Makeover: Campaign edition that is 412 times (and that’s math, not hyperbole) more expensive and, as such, out of touch with everymen like Joe the Plumber, than Edwards’ snip snip snafu. Right?
I’m still waiting for the punditocracy to grab a hold of this one, to begin to question the GOP’s Joe Sixpack, defender of the middle class message, but I get a feeling that my face will be bluer than an electoral map of the Northeast if I hold my breath waiting, so allow me to drum up my own moral outrage.
