“Obamacare” could be a historic success for the Republican Party, but they botched it. Conservatives attached the pejorative “Obamacare” label while lying non-stop about the Affordable Care Act, a brand of health reform far worse than Nazi Germany, among many, many other things. While the President is trying to enhance the health care system ranked number 37 (between Costa Rica and Slovenia) in the world by the World Health Organization, Republicans have been hard at work doing everything they can to hamstring any change. But this whole time they should have worked for it, ensured its success, and taken the credit they might actually deserve. After all, the Affordable Care Act is little more than Massachusetts’ Romneycare (appropriated from the conservative Heritage Foundation).

Among the many lies/talking points about health care reform making the rounds on cable television is a particularly nasty absurdity that Democrats refuse to stop circulating. As Rep. Michele Bachmann sputters on about death panels and Sen. Marco Rubio wages war on fact-checking, Democrats unite to perpetuate a crowning fabrication of their own: Many liberal politicos continue to bizarrely insist that Republicans have no realistic or comprehensive plan to begin plugging holes in the crumbling dam that is the money pit we comically refer to as the American health care system. Of course Republicans have a plan, and it requires a special brand of deceit to maintain this denial for as long as the left has. ObamaCare is the Republican plan.

In light of a federal appeals court ruling reinstating much of Texas' restrictive and indisputably politically-motivated anti-abortion measure I find myself wishing, even more than usual, that I had a joint bank account with the Koch brothers. Or Sam Walton was my grandpa. Because if I had Bill Gates- or Warren Buffet-type cash, I would be able to stand up and declare, "Abortions for all."

Maybe it was inevitable. Perhaps this was where the so-called “War on Women” waged by Republicans was destined to lead, and Alabama Congresswoman Martha Roby just got here first. The second-term Republican Representative announced her intent to introduce legislation making it “not illegal to terminate abortion providers,” calling on her conservative colleagues to join her push for the forthcoming legislation protecting citizens from prosecution if they kill an abortion doctor "for moral or religious reasons."
