Happy Bloomsday, one and all!
Today, June 16th, is the 102nd anniversary of James Joyce's first date with his wife, Nora Barnacle. The events of that day would eventually serve as the backdrop for Joyce's most famous work, a book some (like me) say is the greatest novel of the 20th century, Ulysses. Every year on this day I find the nearest Irish pub and have a couple of pints of Guinness in honor of a work most grad students would sooner dropkick across the quad than have to read. This year I'm inclined to have a few more pints than usual, primarily because it's a Friday.
