Did anyone else notice this? Throughout Obama's Townhall, he was asked questions about what he was going to do to fix our problems. In most of his responses, he talked about what he has already done, and he described our current problems. But in not one answer did he say that he had any ideas or proposals for new policies or policy changes. Basically, all he wants to do is to continue our current policies, changing nothing.
He said that we need to reduce our dependence of foreign oil. He said that we need to increase the debt ceiling. He said that we must generate more revenue. He said that we need to increase manufacturing. He said that we must do a lot of obvious things that we already know that we must do. Both he and we have been saying those things for many years. But he did not say say that we actually were going to do something differently from how we are doing it now or from how we have been doing it.
Barack Obama, who was elected on a platform of change, offers us no changes whatsoever -- except, perhaps, cuts to Medicare and Social Security.
At a time when we need dramatic changes to not only the structure of our economy but also to the function of our government, Obama has no plans to change anything. For me, this does not inspire hope for our future.
