Dear Kozzax:
My very first dailykos diary was about food. Yes, food on a political blog. I always felt like everyone here is so much better at writing about politics and world events than I am, so I rarely venture into that territory.
Anyway, now that we have these new digs, and groups and stuff, I thought I would republish my old diary into one of the groups slinkerwink began, Foodies Unite! Cut and paste starts ...
NOW!
Unlike Chicago, where I lived most of my adult life, here in Seattle, there is a dearth of inexpensive, old-fashioned diners and other venues for comfort food. I’ve had chicken fried steak at a few places around town such as The Mecca and the Five Point, on lower Queen Anne and the edge of Belltown, respectively. Same owner, same recipe, same review: it’s okay. I mean, it’s better then Denny’s or IHOP, and certainly cheap enough. But. It just doesn’t stand out and the Mecca/Five Point gravy is nothing to crow home about.
Follow me over the mound of mashed potatoes for more.
