What's it mean to be patriotic? Of course the short answer is: to love your country. But what's it mean to love your country? Does it mean to get enjoyment out of it, like a great margarita or a really funny movie? Does it mean you have a thing for purple mountain majesties and we've got some great ones?
Of course not. Patriotism means love in the sense of willingness to sacrifice for the sake of the nation, of "asking what you can do for your country," which is why some of our most revered patriots are convalescing in VA hospitals or worse, lying in repose in military cemeteries.
Patriots also root for their country when it comes to us-against-them. Remember when Vietnam War protesters were accused of treason because they didn't agree with "My country right or wrong"?
Conservatives are unpatriotic because they put themselves and their worship of The Market ahead of their fellow countrymen and even worse, their country.
Example 1: Eduardo Saverin renounces his US citizenship to save taxes. John Tamny, a Forbes and National Review contributor, calls him a "hero." (I wonder how John McCain feels about that.)

Example 2: Which electric car do you root for: the good ol' American Chevy Volt, or the Nissan Leaf? "The electric Chevrolet Volt is the new focus of angry conservative blog posts, testy congressional hearings and joking videos."

Example 3: We've had the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, and the new-and-improved underwear bomber (who, thankfully, was actually playing along with us). So what's worse? The TSA or a plane detonating over Detroit? If you prefer putting your life in the hands of private security guards, i.e., the guys with criminal records and who do security gigs by moonlight -- to a government agency, you know the answer to this one.

I'll stop here for now.
