This is kind of a Daily Show / Colbert highlight recap from last night -
On last night's episode of The Daily Show, Jon took the time to comment on the candidates' visits and speeches at the Israeli lobby AIPAC. Jon is able to get away with some funny accents and Jewish stereotypes because he himself is Jewish and also makes some pretty sound points about how the candidates go about pandering to the group.
He adds that when it came time for nuanced criticism of Israel's policies each of the 3 candidates (McCain, Obama, Clinton) were silent. "Oh I forgot," he said "you cant say anything remotely critical about Israel and still be elected President. Which is funny because you know where you CAN be critical of Israel...? Israel."
Also, Stephen Colbert sat down with conservative Pat Buchanan whose new book on World War 2 is titled "The Unnecessary War". Stephen and Pat talk about the ways WW2 could have been avoided and where the term originates. We also learn that Buchanan's largest constituency is the confused voter - lol.
