Most people want to work. I see many who can't find a job or are working for minimum wage where I volunteer (and they are coming to get canned goods so they can make it to the end of the month). I was just talking to my daughter this morning...most of her friends where she lives have a college degree and are working low paying jobs or looking for a job. The young people in this nation are getting discouraged. They know who caused this mess but the ones who didn't are paying the price!
The problem with our country is it is a plutocracy...all the money is going to the top and a few elite and corporations are literally writing our laws (see ALEC). There is a protest going on at Wall Street right now but is the corporate media covering it? There are so many of us who know what is going on and if we just all band together we can make a difference and change things.
Corporations are the ones being given welfare. The head CEO of Walmart makes 16,000 an hour but Wal-mart pays its workers a wage that is hard to live on. So, we the taxpayers have to help these people out. We, the taxpayers, are are subsidizing these corporations that are making record profits. These corporations have a big racket going. The welfare state we are creating is because of them...they are using our government and us the taxpayers so they don't have to pay decent wages and give benefits, all the while making TONS OF MONEY and record profits. The banks are what caused the economy to collapse, not the poor or the working middle class. The elite in this country are taking the rest of us for a ride and laughing all the way to the bank.
This myth of people "not wanting to work" has got to stop and we need to acknowledge where the money is being redistributed....AND THAT IS TO THE TOP!
The ones who aren't working want to work but the Republicans in Congress voted down to give incentives to companies that keep jobs here INSTEAD OF GOING OVERSEAS.
Yes, I am FED UP ...with us being a plutocracy.
Justice Brandeis said that you can have wealth in the hands of a few or you can have a democracy but you can't have both. The question is, "Which one do you want?"
