The news today on Miers has looked grim for liberals. After all, Miers answers to a questionnaire while running for a position on Dallas City Council in 1989 suggest that she is, in fact, pro-life.
To many on the left, this confirms the fears raised by recent comments from James Dobson saying that wink, wink, Harriet was okay by him as well as comments from the White House on her religion which led to the discovery that she is a member of a particularly conservative church.
And while those of us on the left have every reason to be concerned about this latest news, perhaps those on the right shouldn't get too excited just yet.
The problem is that Mier's answers in the questionairre do not lead us to an ultimate answer on her opinion of the Supreme Court's holding in Roe v. Wade, but instead to more questions. Questions members of both political parties should be asking in this confirmation process.
