We so desperately need a better health care system than the one we have now. We pay almost twice as much of our income on health care than other countries and receive so much less for our money -- lower life span, lower healthy years, unnecessary deaths, bankruptcies, loss of jobs to overseas due to the high cost of employer supplied health benefits, serf like endentures to jobs to keep health insurance and a system whose entire incentives are to deny health care even when desperately necessary.
We know that the GOP can do no more than recite over and over again ideas that have failed miserably and obstruct those with better ideas. Still, if we are to get the obstructionists out of office by 2010 elections, we must let them vote against the well being and wishes of the voters. We should have this bill and we should have it now. Below the fold, are my basic premise of an American Health Care system. It is a combination of public and private payer health care, much like the Bismark system, which provides coverage in Germany, Japan, and Switzerland.
