In response to the lower-down diary about Missouri Democrats, and to the many previous diaries that focus only on gains in Montana, here's a diary about what Democrats managed to do in Colorado, even with Bush winning by a comfortable margin.
The article feels a little unfinished, but what I like is that the author focuses on the lesser-known officials who are usually the first harbingers for change in a state, and on counties like Eagle which are not supposed to elect Democrats, yet swept the board with 'em this year. One of them is Arn Menconi, who was barely elected in 2000, faced accusations of vote fraud, a recall attempt, and was supposed to be dead man walking in 2004 (just Google his name for some of the bizarre rants against him). That didn't exactly happen.
