Being Columbus Day, most courthouses around Texas are closed. Not remembering that, I came to the office anyway. My friend -- let's call him Cory -- also went into his office.
Now Cory's the kind of Texas lawyer that votes Republican, but thinks like a Democrat. As a result, Cory's also the kind of guy you think you have a reasonable shot at turning to the light. Truth is, there are "Corys" all over the nation, but it seems like there way too many of them living in the south, and Texas has more than its share, I can assure you.
Anyhow, I'm at my office and my secretary informs me she has been given permission from the office manager (my wife) to go home. It's Columbus Day. I've got to hang around for a meeting with my investigator in an upcoming trial, so I've got to stay, I am informed. Have fun.
The phone rings. It's Cory. Cory proposes that we get together and go play for awhile since it's Columbus Day. Never one to pass on a playday if at all possible, I accept. ;)
