"one of them must be wrong"--a lyric from a classic Dire Straits song ("Industrial Disease"). That is my sentiment when reading a couple of conservative commentators at Real Clear Politics. The comments are that there are more Republicans than Democrats when leaners are counted (according to Gallup) and that Obama can't beat the "fundamentals". Then I read Nate Silver's analysis and I think "this is over" and the only question is the margin of victory for Obama.
In my mind, this election is most similar to Bush-Kerry amongst modern elections. A less than great challenger faces an incumbent with an economy the didn't soar. the MSM is casting this election as Bush-Gore or Nixon-Kennedy, a true tossup to be determined late in the night or later in the week. Which election is most comparable to you that are reading this?
What makes my spidey sense tingle is that Romney and Republicans seem to have unlimited funds. I live in Minnesota, which has become a late target, but also get Iowa broadcasts--Republicans and Romney are outspending Obama probably 2-1. It seems to me that Romney's campaign reasoned--"hey, we've saturated the swing states, we just as well go after Michigan, Pennsylvania and Minnesota", it's only money and we've got plenty". It points out the obscene amounts of money spent on campaigns and the obvious advantage that the party of wealth and privilege has since Citizens United.
