Rachel's segment is gold.
This is a great opportunity for Democrats to take the offensive. Here's an idea. Brand Republicans as the "Party of Pretenders."
They pretend to help. They vote against funds for creating jobs, then take credit for those same jobs. Pretenders.
They pretend to save. First they vote for TARP, tax cuts for the wealthy, and unfunded prescription drug programs, then get fiscally conservative when it comes to helping working families. Pretenders.
They pretend to co-operate, talk about the need for bi-partisanship, but when it's time to do the deal walk away. Pretenders.
They pretend to work. They show up in their suits and make-up faces for tv, but don't actually pass any laws with solutions to people's problems. Pretenders.
Rachel's segment could easily be turned into ads, songs, etc., seeing one Republican face after another, all punctuated with the refrain "Pretender."
Keep the trope going and the list growing...
They pretend to be tough...
They pretend to care...
