This is truly sad. I just heard about this today, marooned as I am out here in SoCal, though it happened a couple of weeks ago. There are hateful and destructive people everywhere, and even my lovely true blue home state of Vermont isn't exempt from suffering events such as this. I grew up in Middlebury, in the beautiful Champlain Valley, which is home to many small farms and other small homesteads and agricultural entrepreneurs. Marian Pollack and Marjorie Susman have been quietly toiling on their beloved Orb Weaver Farm in Monkton for 25 years, contributing to the marketplace some of the most delicious and transcendent handmade cheese available anywhere on the planet. A couple of weeks ago, someone broke into their farm and destroyed 237 wheels of cheese, which represent a year of work and was worth $20,000.
