It seems like sometimes I walk in different circles of humans. The ones I know here are not the ones I know there. It may well be that you are the only link between two entirely disparate groups.

In June I became gainfully employed again. Quite likely the worst job I have ever had. They do not offer insurance and if there is some minimum number of employees that the owner can have to avoid having to offer insurance to his employees he will have one less than that. However, since the great and noble State of Texas has determined that I make too much money to have my daughter receive medicaid/CHIP, the maximum amount being 1226 smoking dollars per month, I have to find somewhere else to go.

I said a week or so ago that my lowly stRangers don't belong to W anymore. Seems like that seismic shift has occured, but well since then...

we beat the damnyankees and got to the world series
and it aint been so good since for my baseball team
maybe that means i can trade what SF has to offer America
over what Texas does
and i live here in this Lone Star State
be glad to see us lose if that is what it means

I wrote about my lowly stRangers before. I know the Kos himself is a party to sports blogs. This is my team. I cringed when TBS showed that grinning monkey face of W sitting in the owner's box in Arlington. To say that it irks me that my team, my baseball team was once owned by one of the absolutely worst human beings to ever occupy the Oval Office is a vast understatement.

I would really appreciate it if you stopped associating my team with the man. He sold it to Tom Hicks, the sorry assed rat bastard, who had it taken from him and sold to the highest bidder between Nolan Ryan and Chuck Greenberg and the owner that gets under the skin, Mark Cuban.

It don't belong to W anymore, please stop associating this collection of players with him.

Be forewarned, this is a rant. In no uncertain terms I am PISSED OFF that yet again my hockey team is being shit upon by executives in big bidness because some dickless wonder decided they gotta have more cash for their channels.
I don't give a damn who is responsible for it really, but this time it is Rupert Murdoch and Fox and that gets me to salivating at the opportunity to pester them mercilessly.

I have a recurrent vision. It pops into my head periodically. This is my first attempt to put the expressionist picture into words.

This probably better a night poem when I have lingered long with the Insomniac Theater of Craig, but sometimes things of the night have a clearer rendering in the day.

It isn't particularly meta. It might have some symbolism and some commentary. It certainly contains some of me in it.
At least it might not rattle around in my head today.
Maybe.

I lost my job yesterday. I was forced into resigning. As soon as I get finished with this venting I am headed off to the workforce commission to apply for unemployment insurance. My stomach is queasy and my head is fuzzy inside and it feels like a free fall.

It is really easy to dismiss Texas as the home of W and Tom DeLay. It is easy to forget it is also the state that gave us Molly Ivins. It really does need to change. It has been a backasswards and recalcitrant state. I want it to change. I cannot do it by myself. I am going to shamelessly ask for help. I need candidates and I need money for the candidates I do have.

Last Friday I was riding around the Rhino Ranch with my boss when I saw the info on his dash. I looked at the smiling faces of Rudy and W on the glossy colorful bumpersticker sized ticket. He asked, "Do you want to go to that on Monday?"
"Oh hell no! I hate that kind of shit!"
I can say those sorts of things to my boss because he understands me and my feelings about meetings. I despise them. I can usually cover the necessary points in less than thirty minutes and get us out of there and back to being productive. This meeting, this gathering of blowhards and cheerleaders, had all the appeal of a day in the dentist's chair. I am thankful to say that I did not Get Motivated!

You might never have heard of the man. He helped drag Texas out of the 19th century, though some will maintain that there are disturbingly large portions of our populace that are still there. If there was a man in Texas that was more hated or more vilified I would be hard pressed to find him. Well, maybe Jerry Jones after he fired Tom Landry. It might be a toss up between those two.
