Even though 12 of the top 26 Saudi terror suspects still remain at large, Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, who must have a learning disability of some sort, declared the war against terror a smashing victory.
Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler says the kingdom's major battle with terrorism is over, and security forces are pursuing the last remaining al-Qaida militants.
In an interview with a Kuwaiti daily, Crown Prince Abdullah said, in his words, "We are past the stages of terrorism," and "What you see now is the elimination of the last pockets" of militants.
He said Saudi security forces have effectively targeted the leaders of the al-Qaida militants. In his words, "We went directly to the heads of the snakes to cut them off."
Six militants turned themselves in during a one-month amnesty offered in June. Others have been killed in clashes with Saudi security forces. Twelve of the 26 top Saudi terror suspects remain at large.
At least we now know where the Bush speechwriter who came up with the line: "In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed," has found new employment. I didn't see a photo, but I wonder if Prince Abdullah was on an aircraft carrier when he made that speech.
Meanwhile, in a speech to Saudi tribal leaders, Abdullah said, "Trust your government; it is walking in the path of the truth and just whatever happens."
I really am starting to think the House of Bush and the House of Saud are using the same PR firm.
