Partisan politics are out of hand in our country. We are polarized and angry.
The war in Iraq symbolizes our divisions more than any other issue. Often we can’t even talk effectively with the other side. Conversations about the war turn into deaf debates, or worse yet, shouting matches.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. I am passionately against the war in Iraq, but I am also passionately American. In that spirit, I try to have genuine conversations with my countrymen about the war. I want to know how they think and feel, and I want them to know exactly where I stand.
