Come one, come all — welcome to the Kos Katalogue Sunday Salon diary series. On tap this week: More about the new name, with a report from last week’s poll. Possibly a few April’s Fool day pranks. And the blog is always open for vendors to show & tell about their wares!
The Kos Katalogue Sunday Salon (KKSS) diary series posts every Sunday evening at 9pm Eastern / 8pm Central / 7pm Mountain / 6pm Pacific time. This is a Kos Katalogue group diary that also supports the Community Links, which are posted in the comments. The full list of vendor links can be found in the Kos Katalogue mothership diary by Avilyn.
It’s a fun way to bring Kos Katalogue sellers & shoppers together and get to know each other. Sellers/vendors can use the comments below to post information about their items, products, services, and news about their businesses — photos are always welcome. Customers and shoppers are encouraged to use the comments to ask questions, make suggestions, and so on. In between, we can hang out, share our news and views … and feel free to post pics of the stuff you’ve bought, sold, or have for sale!
What’s in a name?
In last week’s diary — and btw, big thanks to everyone who read, commented, tipped, voted, etc. and made it a great conversation — we had a poll with various new name suggestions. Here’s a screenshot of the latest vote as of this writing:
The response was outstanding and many thoughtful comments were posted. I was especially touched by the block of votes in the “don’t care about the name — just keep posting” category: y’all provided a welcome boost that is much appreciated at this always-fraught stage of getting a new series going :)
That said, you’ll notice the new name “Sunday Salon” is nowhere on the poll. That’s because I didn’t think of it until a day or two later, but I totally attribute the emergence of the name to the creative juices sparked by the discussion and poll. That, plus the “click” realization that we don’t have to settle on one name. Instead, one — Sunday Salon — can be the “umbrella” name that all the tags go under, and the other ideas (Hangout, Roundup, Show & Tell etc.) can rotate in the diary subtitles. It’s all about getting the idea across that this is an ongoing series for meeting, greeting, and sharing what Kos Katalogue is about!
So — once again, thanks to everyone to contributed. Now, without further ado — let’s get sharing!
What’s Kos Katalogue? and Where to Find It
Kos Katalogue is an organized way to showcase the vast pool of small-business talent we have among our fellow Kossacks. From artisans and crafters, to fine artists, to writers and book publishers, to web developers, consultants, and counselors — and many more — Kos Katalogue lists an amazing array of goods and services. Every purchase supports a Kossack — many of our sellers gain all or a significant portion of their livelihood from these sales. When you shop at Kos Katalogue, you support indie and small businesses, help a Kossack pay the bills and put food on the table, all while bypassing the corporate noise. And, you get to stay out of those crowded malls!
Note: Kos Katalogue is a listing directory, not a selling platform. Links within the sellers’ descriptions will take you to the individual seller’s website or product pages, where you can get more information and make purchases.
How do I join Kos Katalogue?
You can join the Katalogue listings as a seller by sending a Kosmail with your request to Avilyn, who is the Keeper of the updated mothership diary. Be sure to include a brief description of your products/services, and a link to your selling site.
To join the Kos Katalogue group, send a request to Blog Admins Avilyn or jan4insight and mention this diary.
Help keep this series going ~
Back to last week’s diary — this particular comment thread blew me away: www.dailykos.com/…
A couple of good Kossacks, whose views & news I respect very much, suggested that I put my name in the diary title. Hmmmm… I’d never thought of doing that. I want this series to be for the group, not just me. In fact, I’ve hoped to turn the series over to a rotating pool of diarists — but that’s a ways away. However, while I’m still reluctant to put my name in the title, as a result of that discussion I’m even more solidly committed to keeping the series going under my own diary power. Having ownership & making a commitment does give one an extra jolt of energy “juice’ to muddle through a long-term project ;) So, until the time is right to form the pool and turn it over, this will informally (at least) also be “Jan’s Sunday Salon.”
That said, we’re stronger together when many hands are on deck. You can give this series a big boost by
- Hanging out with us on Sunday nights
- Tip, rec, share, comment and all that good stuff
- Spreading the word about this series in open threads that you go to
- And making sure your favorite vendors KNOW about this series, so they show up and keep coming back!
Now I’ll turn over the closing to my Top Chief SpokesCat and Marking Director, LuvLee. I think she has another suggestion ~
Yes, it’s all about shameless self-promotion. Vendors, start your engines!
