Excuse me for the brevity of this diary.
Granted, NPR is just one news outlet among many, but judging by the 5:00 PM EST coverage of the GOP health care bill, Democrats will need to improve their messaging.
The report was weak and not very informative. Criticism of the bill focused almost exclusively on right-wing critics such as Rand Paul and Mike Lee, i.e., that the bill is "Obamacare Lite".
No mention of the hardship that this bill would cause millions of American. No mention of the dishonest way Ryan is trying to pass it (no CBO score).
This worries me because all the talk about the bill being "Obamacare Lite" may actually help make the bill more popular by reassuring the majority of people who like many aspects of Obamacare.
I could be dead wrong, but I would say the chances of this bill becoming law are not bad. I can't imagine a senate Republican deciding that they would be the one vote to kill the bill. At most, I see maybe 2 Republicans voting against it — from the Right.
Democrats need to improve their messaging and make this bill toxic to the voter.
