June 10th, 2009 I admitted myself to my local hospital ER with unbearable abdominal pain. Gall bladder. Pretty common malady for a population that is poisoned with food on every corner.
i was diagnosed with gall stones and pancreatitis. What normally would have been a 2 day stay in the hospital turned into a 7 day stay with 2 surgeries in 4 days. Not to mention the hallucinatory experience of passing a gall stone thru the common bile duct after the gall bladder had been removed.
Let me tell you, I would have confessed to any local crime to make the pain go away.
I am a textbook case of why we should not only have a public healthcare option, but why healthcare in this country should be free.
Below the fold is an estimate of what my weeklong vacation at the local hospital will cost my family.
