This is just a quick observation, and it's fairly obvious to most, I'm sure, but it's something I haven't seen mentioned too much in the is-she-or-isn't-she prepared debates, and I thought maybe folks who are trying to convince undecided McCain voters could use it if they weren't already. But for all the concern over McCain's age and health, the truth is, Palin could easily step into the Presidential spot without McCain passing away. All he has to do is be incapacitated in some way and unable to perform his duties; if he has an accident of some kind, a severe injury, if he has an operation that requires a long convalescence, anything else of the kind. So when people say he's 72 and "probably good for 6 or 7 more years" (an actual quote from the National Review), that's another little factor to point out, that he's susceptible to the same health risks the rest of us are, and of his age group in particular. I wonder if it might not make a lot of older voters reflect on their own medical history and consider Palin's nomination in a different light. Just a thought, anyway.
