It is not every day a text like the Fatwa declared against Osama Ben Laden by The Islamic Commission of Spain falls on my lap.
I am a former Latin American Literature professor with a background in Baroque literature and aesthetics who has worked for 20 years as a language expert and translator (Spanish, English, Portuguese, French and Italian) and who presently writes about culture, politics, technology and sex at my blog culturekitchen.
Needless to say, it's been satisfying to translate this historic document.
What has been shocking is its absence from US mass media. The text has been marginally quoted in articles but the whole text has not been translated at all. And it should have been : I believe this is the first fatwa ever to be issued by an European Muslim organization against Osama Ben Laden and Al Qaida.
