As long as the Dow plunges and all other economic indicators do as well Obama should have clear sailing barring massive voter suppression, a scenario McCain, with his ACORN-mania,is stoking.
Obama missed a chance to explain more fully what ACORN has done and not done, but also pointing out that McCain himself was a big supporter of ACORN in recent times.
The other concern is a last minute Osama video---which hurt Kerry in the last few days of the 2004 campaign. Osama would no doubt prefer a McCain victory since he's be almost as good a recruiting tool as Bush. But, Osama understands that to be for McCain he has to appear to be supporting Obama. So, Obama must anticipate either a genuine Osama communique OR a phony one manufactured by GOP operatives to look or sound authentic.
I think Obama has to innoculate himself against this possibility by mentioning what happened in 2004 and, while not in any way suggesting
McCain would be helpful to Al Qaeda, emphasizing again and again why he would go after them more aggressively than McCain, who ignored Afghanistan and Pakistan until recently.
