Born in 1951, I am a ‘boomer’, not my choice, but true none the less. Most of my friends are also members of that cohort. Despite a couple of myocardial infarctions, I am in generally good health, and so have little personal concern about COVID 19, but I am worried about my friends, some of who have already ‘passed on’ in recent years. I am also concerned about my elderly mother, who is 88 and has COPD, (probably from working for over 40 years as a lab tech). About a week ago, I had expected the US to get past the virus with no more than one million dead, now it looks like California might have that many alone. The news from Italy, and that scene of a 21st century version of “Bring out your dead” is chilling. Now it looks like we might have 3 to 4 million dead nationally, and maybe even more. Our national maladministration of Trump toadies and butt lickers, with near zero competence and the Republican fetish for profit over people leaves me deeply sad.
