If you ever listen to the most intellectual proponents of the conservative movement you will hear them readily admit that the benefits of conservative government are fleeting and short-term. Although his intelligence is much in question, Grover Norquist at least understands that the continuation of the movement itself brings about the death of a democratic government. His infamous goal is to starve government till it can be drown in a bath tub, his weapon of choice: conservativism.
