A lot has been made recently of Former Senator Fred Thompson (who beats Romney and often McCain in primary polls despite not having entered the race yet). And, as can be expected, the media repeats the right wing talking points about him, calling him "folksy" and "authentic." They point, in particular, to the fact that he drove around Tennessee in a red pickup, to "prove" that he is a "man of the people." Of course, the media continously fails to mention that the red pickup was rented. Despite the fact that the rented pickup was a camapaign prop, not even driven by Thompson (but rather by a staffer), the media continues to propogate the same BS about him. And yet John Edwards, a candidate with similar wealth and business success, is called a hypocrite for campaigning for the poor.
