My take on the presidential candidates arranged in a random order.
Joe Biden, his time is nearly up, but if he improves on his debate performance, he will be the nominee. Just because all the other candidates are running to the left thereby leaving him alone in the moderate lane. He has been smart to tie himself to Obama and the more the other candidates pile on him, the more many voters will think it is Obama’s legacy that s being piled on and the more his supporters will rally behind him
Bernie Sanders will always be Bernie. He has his core supporters but his message is no longer new and in addition his message has been adopted by younger candidates which is why he has been struggling to break out this election season. Socialism may sell to the younger crowd, but more moderate Americans do not understand or want socialism.
Elizabeth Warren has battled back after her earlier fumbles with the DNA issue. I think if she continues with her “I have a plan campaign” and does not veer too far to the left on health and immigration, she has the next best shot at being the nominee.
Kamala Harris finally got her 15 minutes of fame. This will eventually backfire on her because she will continually be forced to talk about the past instead of the future. In addition, other than the media wanting her to be the next Obama, I still don’t see her rationale for wanting to be President and when the furor over the first debate has died down, her polling will revert back to the mean at 7/8%. Furthermore, she will not be able to pull the same stunt in subsequent debates. I also don’t see her winning the nomination by alienating the 30% of voters who are Biden supporters.
Corey Booker in my opinion should drop out of the race. The only time he gains traction is when he is talking about race. We are electing the President of America and not the President of Black America. And I think one lesson we should have learned by now is candidates shouldn’t focus too much on race or gender or else they lose. Obama rarely talked about race and he won. Hillary was always talking about being the first woman president and she lost. In this race the black candidate is Corey Booker and the Female candidate is Kirsten Gillibrand and none of them will win.
Kirsten Gillibrand will not win the nomination because of 2 words. ‘ Al Franken’.
Beto O Rourke should have run for Senate instead of running for president, now I think his chances at winning the presidential nomination is nil. His chances of winning the Senate has also greatly reduced as a consequence of running a lack luster campaign so far.
Julian Castro helped himself in the debate but I still don’t see a path for him to winning the nomination. But if he performs as well in the next debate, I think he improves his chances of being the next junior Senator from Texas.
Pete Buttigieg is also a very strong candidate but I do not believe that America is ready for him. He is young and he should leverage the gains in name recognition from his presidential run to run for Governor or Senate and maybe in the nest ten to fifteen years, America would finally be ready for him.
In my humble opinion, I do not believe the other candidates have a shot at winning the nomination so they should go run for the Senate, House or anything else for that matter.
