Fear is what is driving these healthcare debates, and it is not a fear of Government Controlled Health Care. It is a fear of the changing social structure.
Prof. Gates the distinguished professor of African American Studies at Harvard was arrested trying to get into his locked home. Someone please tell me how we live in a post racial world
Recently a group of African American children were denied access to a country club pool for one reason and one reason only-the color of their skin. Judge Sotomayor is now being asked about whether she has the temperment to be a Supreme Court Justice for one reason and one reason only-she is a Latino Woman. What is the differance?
I am so tired of the Republican's feigned outrage over what is happening in Iran in regards to human life. I am so tired of Republican's determining whose life is more important based on obtuse moral, ethical and monetary standards. I am tired of their feigned concern over the life of Iranians, and their silence on the millions slaughtered in Darfur. Their silence on an African American Security guard killed protecting visitors at the Holocaust Museum, their silence on the killing of a Doctor performing a heart wrenching but necessary service. I am tired of their racist comments and their moral inequities as they point fingers at everyone outside their small circle.
Have you ever had a period in your life when you feel like you are on a tightrope with no net? Maybe your husband or wife is losing their job and your financial security is in jeapardy, maybe your children are sick and no matter what you do or say noone can help. You are terrified your world as you know it is going to come crumbling down and then what? Will you start from scratch? Will you have the strength to pick up the pieces? Has the foundation of your life been built on sand? What will your reality consist of after the fall? I think we all have experienced this and I believe it is safe to say this is where the Republicans stand today.
I am the first to admit that when it comes to the conflict between Palestine and Israel I have alot to learn. However, this is outrageous, an injustice, and we need to take a long look at what this long conflict has done to an entire people. It appears that the Isreal soldiers have crossed "into the dark side."
this will be short but sweet (hopefully).
I am a mother of three young children. My husband and I may not be perfect parents and there many unknowns when it comes to what decisions my children will make as adults. I anticipate they will make some pretty bad decisions, however, I hope they will not repeat the same one twice! However there is one value and moral responsibility I KNOW has and will resonate and permeate their very being.
As I sat in the comforts of my home, worrying and ruminating about our economy, our country's future and my children's future, it was not a debate I watched.
I am a first time writer. A stay at home mother of three bi-racial children. This election has inspired me on many levels. I knew I would vote for Sen. Obama after I heard him speak in 2004 at the convention. His eithics, morality and the need to do the right thing shone during his speech and I was sold. I believe in his policies both foreign and domestic and know this country will be better off with him as President. One day maybe we can freely talk about the "elephant in the room" without being accused of playing the race card. Until then, I will send this out in hopes it will spark conversation among people both young and old.
