As Tuesday draws closer and closer and I've seen the continued wave of good news greeting us throughout the press, the polls, my GOTV and phone efforts and even (gasp) reflected in some dark corners of mainstream media coverage, I've begun to turn thoughts and efforts toward a vision of a Kerry Presidency. As with the "visualize winning" animation (wish I would give credit, provide me with the name of that stellar individual!), there is little more powerful or uplifting as we come down the stretch than looking toward the future with hope and great expectations. We've spent SO MUCH TIME in the campaign looking back, that on many occasions the country has neglected to project these two candidates forward.
One critical example is the focus on John Kerry's "undistinguished" Senatorial record. We've all read about the between 5 and 56 bills that, depending on which camp is talking, Kerry has passed. I think we're missing the mark, and being misled - not by the statement itself, but by the measure of its significance. Why? Bear with me, philosophical rant coming.
