This issue has come up several times in the past few days, so I thought it was time to speak out. Many people have berated Edwards, Obama, or Kucinich supporters for saying things like "If Clinton is the nominee I won't vote for her". These attacks come from a position that, while theoretically credible, has little impact on the factors that would lead a person to vote (or not). Let me explain by using an example: Me.
I've been an Obama supporter since before Day 1. Not because he gives a good stump speech, or because of his hard-hitting position papers, or even for all the good his election would do for racial equality. No, I'm an Obama supporter because Barack is one of the few politicians that spoke (and speaks) candidly about the corrupt Washington system that stymies change and good ideas and promotes stagnation and the status quo. The interconnected web of lobbyists, corporations, and Congress WILL resist all meaningful efforts to cleanse the system of cronyism and corruption, earmarking and log-rolling.
